For the standard ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 families covered here, 20S0 / 20S1 identify the Intel platform, and 20UD / 20UE identify the AMD platform. Start with the complete machine type/model on the label, then confirm it on the matching Lenovo support page. A listing that says only “T14” does not establish the generation or platform.
Quick example: if the label starts with 20UD, use the AMD T14 Gen 1 product entry. An Intel wireless adapter in that computer would not turn it into an Intel-platform T14.
Find the matching product entry
| Type from the label | Covered family | Where to continue |
|---|---|---|
| 20S0 or 20S1 | T14 Gen 1 Intel | Official Lenovo product support · Our corresponding archive |
| 20UD or 20UE | T14 Gen 1 AMD | Official Lenovo product support · Our corresponding archive |
For another machine type, a T14s, or a later generation, locate that exact variant instead of forcing it into this two-family table. See our model and machine-type identification guide. Keep serial numbers out of public posts.
Platform differences that change what to check
The historical PSREF documents describe different platforms. The Intel family lists 10th-generation Core processors, integrated Intel UHD graphics and optional GeForce MX330 configurations. Its ports include a USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 port. The AMD family lists Ryzen PRO processors and integrated Radeon graphics, with two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports and no Thunderbolt port listed. Sources: Intel PSREF, Processor / Graphics / Ports and AMD PSREF, corresponding sections.
- Graphics: record the adapters actually installed before choosing a package. An optional NVIDIA configuration in a platform document is not proof that your machine contains that device.
- Chipset and firmware: begin at the exact product entry and read the package’s supported systems. A shared T14 name does not establish that two packages are interchangeable.
- Docks and USB-C: a matching connector shape or a Thunderbolt-branded dock does not establish the host’s Thunderbolt support. Check the computer’s documented ports and the dock’s supported connection modes; do not select controller firmware by the socket shape.
An AMD processor does not identify the Wi-Fi vendor
The AMD PSREF’s WLAN section includes Intel AX200, MediaTek MT7921 and Realtek RTL8852AE options. That is a list of platform offerings, not a statement that each computer contains every adapter. Used computers may also have been modified. Check the installed wireless adapter and its Hardware Ids when available, then read the relevant OEM package’s device and operating-system support. Check Bluetooth separately. See the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth selection guide.
Keep a short evidence record before downloading
- Record the complete MTM, Windows version/build and full System type.
- Record the affected device name and available hardware IDs; for a dock, record its own model as well.
- Save the exact official package and README URLs, listed supported systems, version, release date and prerequisites.
- If the platform, device or package scope remains uncertain, leave the choice unresolved and consult Lenovo Support.
The printable preparation worksheet keeps these fields together. An archive release date, a higher version number, or a successful download does not establish current compatibility.
